Williamson

Andrew Williamson 1874-1962 was born on Drumchapel Row, New Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire, Scotland on February 7, 1874. He was married to Mary Harvey Bissett on December 27, 1901 in Scotland. Their first born daughter was born in Scotland. He emigrated to the United States, coming through Ellis Island sometime between 1904 and 1907. Mother and daughter emigrated to the United States in 1907. Andrew was a carpenter (also listed as a joiner). While in the United States, three more daughters were born to the couple. Andrew went back and forth across the Canadian border several times between 1917 and 1922. The family lived for several years in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. In 1937, Andrew purchased a thirteen acre tract of land near Conneautville, PA. There he lived in a two room home that he built for himself. The remainder of the family remained in the Pittsburgh area. Andrew lived there until approximately 1961 when he was moved to the County Home in Saegarstown, PA. He passed away there on February 6, 1962, the day before his 88th birthday.

We thank Marge Greenisen, Andrew's granddaughter, for this information. Marge says: "I have the deed for Lot 149 in my possession. Andrew Williamson was my grandfather. He was buried in your cemetery in 1962. However, the deed dates back to 1845 to Andrew Williamson, his heirs and assigns. However, the Andrew Williamson that purchased the lot was not the one who is buried there. Family lore has it that a female child, perhaps named Agnes, died in the area and was buried in the cemetery after the lot was purchased by her father." She is seeking additional information. Please email us if you can help.
