Thomas Beadling, the son of William and Hannah Holmes (Sutton) Beadling, was born around 1820 in Gateshead, County Durham, England. Thomas immigrated to the U.S. with his parents in 1845-the same year he married Anna McIntosh (1824-1889), a native of Scotland. William and his sons Thomas and Robert were the owners/operators of the Beadling Mine. (Robert’s daughter was Amelia Young. In the 1850 census, Thomas was listed as a clerk in a grocery store-descendants believe this may have been the company store for the Beadling Mine. The community was named for the family.

Anna and Thomas lived in what is now the Banksville area and had nine children, including Robert (1852-1930) and Matthew. Robert married Margaret Snedden (1856-1935), a native of Scotland. They had four children…Mary A., who lived only eight years; Thomas E.; William A. and Ethel J. On Nov. 1, 1867, Matthew married Jane Ord (1846-1908) of England and they had three children.

Although there is no headstone for Thomas, it is believed he is buried here with his wife, son, daughters-in-law and granddaughter.
