The following was supplied by Moore/Neeld family descendant Tim Schumann
Here’s the information I’ve been able to gather for Charles, Mary and
family. Charles died on April 24,1889 according to a Record of Death/
Will I was able to find and a Death Notice in the Homestead Paper.
The Death Notice states that he was a Railroad Engineer and that he
was taken to Mt. Lebanon for burial. In a document I received awhile
back entitled “Tombstone Inscriptions- St. Clair Cemetery – Mt.
Lebanon, PA” on pg. 16 it lists C. Moore as owner of a plot in Row #1
of the plot map. Mary Moore was listed as administrator of Charles’
estate. I don’t have an exact date for his birth but the 1870 census
lists him as 35 so that would put his birth approx 1835.
Their daughter Margaret was listed as 1 yr old in the 1870 census and does not appear in the 1880 census and in subsequent census’ Mary lists that she had 7 children and 6 were living so that Margaret died as a child. The other 6 children were all boys and all lived to adulthood.
Their eldest child, William R. Moore, was special needs, lived with
Mary his entire life (Sep 1863- Jul 1929) and then was moved to a
home in Collier Twp where he appears in the 1930 census. Mary was
born January 6, 1842 and died July 3, 1929 according to her Death
Certificate. Charles P. and Mary Moore were married on Oct 31, 1861
according to records of the Mt. Lebanon Presbyterian Church. I have
not been able to ascertain whether he served in the Civil War or not
but will work to clarify this.
The Margaret Neeld who died Sept 1, 1893 is my GGG Grandmother. According to an obituary I have obtained from a Homestead newspaper. She was living with her daughter at the time, Mary Moore who is also buried in St. Clair Cemetery. According to her death certificate and would be one of the unreadable names on the Moore tomb. Margaret E. was the daughter of Mary Neeld Moore and Charles P. Moore. I assume that all three are buried in the Moore plot. Sarah J. Smith, who is buried nearby, is Mary’s sister. Reece was their brother. Margaret Neeld’s maiden name was Stewart. I wonder whether the Stewarts near the Neeld plot were relations.
